If you’ve bought 250g spools of Dikale filament off Amazon, you’ve probably run into the problem of getting them to work in the Bambu AMS. Respooling is a pain, weighing them down is a hack, and most adapters don’t quite fit because Dikale’s cardboard cutout is different from the rest.
So I made one that does.
What it does
This adapter uses the side tabs on the Dikale cardboard spool to lock in and prevent false turns. The spool is easily removable when you’re ready to switch. You only need one adapter — not one per spool.
The inner hole is wide enough to accommodate most spool desiccant holders, for either added weight or moisture removal.
How to assemble
There are two pieces that snap together over the existing spool — no need to remove any of the cardboard.
- Put the bottom piece on a flat surface.
- Slide the spool over the bottom shaft, aligning the tabs on the adapter to the slots on the cardboard spool. There should be no gap in between.
- Slide the top piece over the bottom shaft. It should slide into place and be loose but not come off automatically. Align the tabs to the slots again.
